![]() ![]() The sensation of precise control and aiming is nigh-on legendary. In conjunction with the left analog stick, you can now dive towards, to the side of or even away from enemies, all while pounding round after round into them. L1 also triggers Tequila Time, which puts you into a slow-mo bullet time-style mode allowing you to make unfeasibly cool death assaults on multiple enemies at once. Using the L1 trigger, you can interact with the environments in ways like sliding over or under tables, across railings, running up stair banisters, and so on. ![]() Between the L1 and R1 triggers and the two analog sticks on the Sixaxis pad, you've got everything you need to riddle everything in sight with bullet after sweet bullet - and yeah, that includes anyone or anything stupid enough to try and get in your way. ![]() The sheer elegance of Stranglehold comes in the simplistic control scheme that the developer has opted for. Sporting fewer gameplay glitches, the targeting and shooting mechanics seems to be really nice and tight. We were also quick to notice that the game's cameras have been cleaned up quite a bit and now react more fluidly to the fast-paced nature of the action. A new layer of polish has been applied to the overall visuals of the game, including better-looking and more precise Tequila Bombs (the game's ultra-stylized and amazing-looking special moves) along with the ability for all of the weapons to be used during said over-the-top moves. Initial changes, tweaks and changes that were noted from the PC-based Vegas build included a brand new outfit being worn by Tequila (who is of course played by actor Chow Yun Fat) which progressively gets more and more bloody and messy as damage is taken. The PS3 version has quietly shaped up nicely. Well, after numerous PC/360 showings, Midway's upcoming all-action title, Stranglehold, finally debuted on the PS3 at Sony's recent gamers' day. Anyone who's seen the epic bloodbath that is John Woo's Hard Boiled can't disagree. Inspector Tequila is one of the coolest, most hardcore movie cops to have lived. ![]()
